Do…

  • Acclimatise gradually. Enter the water slowly trying to stay relaxed. Allow your breathing to regulate before setting off.

  • Wear earplugs which prevent cold water entering your ear canal causing dizziness / nausea.
  • Have lots of layers ready for when you get out in the order you will be putting them back on.

Don’t….

  • Forget your inhaler if you have asthma.

Description

Organiser’s Description

POLAR SWIM (November)

Throughout Winter Uswim organises twice monthly ‚Polar Swims‘ for the increasing amount of hardy swimmers who want to benefit from cold water swimming and do something completely breathtaking.

There are two one hour sessions offered with water safety cover and complimentary hot drinks (please bring your own cup).

6+year old swimmers are welcome to take the plunge but must be competent and confident in the open water.

For safety reasons towfloats will be compulsory out on the swim course with none required in the beginners/acclimatisation area. Both course sizes will be subject to change as the temperatures inevitably decrease.
